Double retaining walls of round natural fieldstone were used to correct a steep grade change and drainage issues in the yard while simultaneously beautifying and framing the property. Trees on the slope were installed using manpower, as machinery wasn’t able to make the climb.

A custom-size, narrow pool was installed to accommodate the unique shape of the property.

An open-air outdoor living room is centered around a cozy remote-controlled gas fire pit, while an Azek composite wood pergola lined with LED lights creates a partially-covered dining area.

Between the house and the pool resides an outdoor Lynx 34” grilling station with a side burner and some casual bar seating featuring the same round natural fieldstones as the patio walls. Towels may also be stored on the opposite side.

The custom-built narrow pool and adjoining spa are framed elegantly by the patio walls. An auto-cover slides over the entire structure to protect the water from debris.

The gas fire pit is started with the touch of a button. Wicker patio furniture provides a perfect place to enjoy the warmth while affording a view of the pool area.
A steep hill presented engineering and drainage challenges at this now picturesque Connecticut property. Much of the landscape design was done by hand as machines weren’t able to access the site. Retaining walls made of round natural fieldstone, the removal of 2,000 cubic yards of earth, the addition of a custom drainage system, and an array of greenery were part of the project.
A custom pool and spa was installed along with all the pool decking and a grilling station. A pergola with LED lighting covers the dining area, next to a remote controlled gas fire pit. In front, a brand new driveway was constructed using antique Belgian block curbing. Walkways, a front stoop and inset mailbox are all part of the landscape masonry design.
